SUMMARY:How to Read and Interpret a Gear Inspection Report
DESCRIPTION:Course Description\n\n\n\nFormat: Live Online Virtual Training \n\n\n\n\n\nDate: December 2\, 2027 \n\n\n\n\nThursday\, December 2 – 12:00-4:00pm ET\n\n\n\n\nBeginner Level\n\n\n\nThis half-day online seminar is intended to provide you with a thorough understanding of the information contained within a typical gear inspection report. Specifically\, we will look at the contents and meaning of the information contained within the gear charts\, as well as the techniques used by the gear measurement system to assess gear quality. We will also discuss how to interpret the results and what corrective actions may be considered if the quality of a particular gear is unsatisfactory. \n\n\n\nYou will earn 3.5 clock hours upon completion of the course and they will be listed on your certificate of completion.\n\n\n\nLearning Objectives\n\n\n\n\nUnderstand the information contained in a typical gear inspection report\, common to a GMM\n\n\n\nComprehend how to read this information and relate it to the design and requirements of the gear being inspected\n\n\n\nAppreciate the relationship of the results of the gear inspection charts and report with the quality requirements as stated in the design or drawing\n\n\n\nDiscuss some of the new and automated gear design systems\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\nCourse outline (PDF)\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration Rates\n\n\n\nMEMBER RATE\n\n\n\nEarly Bird Registrant – $350(Deadline until 9/8/27) \n\n\n\nRegular Registrant – $375(Deadline: 9/9/27 – 11/4/27) \n\n\n\nLate Registrant – $390(Deadline: 11/5/27 – 11/18/27) \n\n\n\nNON-MEMBER RATE\n\n\n\nEarly Bird Registrant – $450(Deadline until 9/8/27) \n\n\n\nRegular Registrant – $475(Deadline: 9/9/27 – 11/4/27) \n\n\n\nLate Registrant – $490(Deadline: 11/5/27 – 11/18/27) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend\n\n\n\nThis course will appeal to anyone who is interested in the measurement and inspection results of a GMM inspection and the associated gear charts. \n\n\n\nInstructor\n\n\n\n\nWilliam “Mark” McVea\, PhD\, P.E.\n\nDr. William Mark McVea\, P.E.\, is currently President and Principal Engineer of KBE+\, Inc. where he and his team design and develop complete powertrains for automotive and off-highway vehicles. His experience includes positions within the mechanical drive and powertrain industry. Chief Technology Officer for an industry leader in the design and development of patented powertrain engineering technology used primarily in the automotive industry; Professor of Vehicle Dynamics and Powertrain Sciences in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology; adjunct professor at Purdue University in their Automotive Sciences Department; and was manager of the CAE group within a tier-one powertrain supplier to global automotive markets\, a consulting engineer in vehicle dynamics\, and a project manager of traction systems for off-highway vehicles as well. In addition\, he has extensive publication on transmission systems\, automated design assistant systems\, knowledge systems and knowledge-based engineering in general. He also holds or is listed as co-inventor on numerous patents related to mechanical power transmissions. Mark holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology\, a PhD in Design Engineering from Purdue University and is a licensed Professional Engineer. \n\n\n\n\nPhoto Release\n\n\n\nFrom time to time MPMA uses photographs\, survey answers and testimonial of MPMA events in its promotional materials.
