Active Standards Projects

Shaping the Standards That Guide Power Transmission Manufacturing

Standards Projects in Development

The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) maintains an active standards development program that supports quality, reliability, and innovation across mechanical power transmission manufacturing.

Through collaboration among engineers, manufacturers, and technical specialists, MPMA committees evaluate industry needs, update existing standards, and develop new technical guidance for gears, bearings, and related components.

MPMA provides visibility into current standards activity, including public review opportunities, committee meetings, and projects in development, ensuring members and stakeholders can stay informed and contribute to shaping the industry’s technical guidance.

Standards Projects in Development

MPMA maintains a portfolio of active standards projects that address evolving technologies, manufacturing practices, and industry needs.

Projects may involve:

  • Development of new standards
  • Revision of existing standards
  • Adoption of international standards
  • Reaffirmation of current documents

Each project is guided by a committee or working group and led by an industry subject matter expert.

Upcoming Standards Committees & Working Group Meetings

MPMA technical committees and working groups meet regularly to advance standards development, review technical topics, and coordinate project activity.

Meetings include representatives from across the power transmission industry and provide an opportunity for members to contribute expertise and collaborate on technical guidance.
