Professional Certificates in Power Transmission Manufacturing

More than 3,000 individuals have completed courses and earned certificates through MPMA’s Education Department. Industry leaders value these programs as a way to equip employees with essential knowledge in gears, bearings, and other mechanical power transmission components while building a qualified, skilled workforce.
MPMA continues to expand its certificate offerings to meet the evolving needs of the power transmission industry. Learners engage in professional development training to earn the Gear Manufacturing Certificate and the Advanced Gear Engineering Certificate, demonstrating a high level of commitment and expertise.


Current Certificate Programs
Gear Manufacturing Certificate
Completion requires all of the following in face-to-face or live, instructor-led virtual formats:
- Basic Training for Gear Manufacturing
- Fundamentals of Parallel Axis Gearing, formerly Fundamentals of Gear Design and Analysis
- Gear Manufacturing and Inspection
Plus two additional advanced 2.5- or 3-day courses from:
- Gear Failure Analysis
- Gearbox CSI
- Gearbox Systems Design
- Steels for Gear Applications
- Detailed Gear Design
- Epicyclic Gear Design
- Bevel Gear Design
- Worm Gear
- Gear Systems Design for Minimum Noise
- Gear Materials
Advanced Gear Engineering Certificate
Complete any five advanced 2.5- or 3-day courses in face-to-face or live, instructor-led virtual formats from the list above.
Courses may count toward both the Gear Manufacturing Certificate and the Advanced Gear Engineering Certificate (e.g., Gear Manufacturing and Inspection plus two advanced courses of choice).
Note: On-demand video courses do not count toward either certificate unless prior MPMA approval is granted. Request approval by emailing [email protected].
