Alexandria, VA — March 31, 2026 – The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) announces that its President, Matthew Croson, will retire on April 1. Jennifer Blackford will assume the role of President, effective immediately.

February 26, 2026 – Alexandria, VA – The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) and the Alliance for Innovative Energy, LLC, managing and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize their collaboration on advancing standards for gear and bearing design and manufacturing.

February 3, 2026 – Alexandria, VA – The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) to jointly develop and deliver content for the 2026 MPMA Fall Technical Meeting (FTM).

January 6, 2026 – Alexandria, VA – The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) has announced its inaugural Motion + Power Insight Exchange to be held February 17, 2026, during PACK EXPO East in Philadelphia. The Motion + Power Insight Exchange is a collaboration between MPMA and the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) will bring supply chain leaders together for a day of dialogue on trends, challenges, and opportunities across the entire power transmission supply chain (gears, bearings, couplings, etc.).  

November 3, 2025 – Alexandria, VA –  The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) co-hosted the Motion + Power Technology Expo (MPT Expo) and ASM Heat Treat that welcomed 4,425 industry professionals October 21-23 at the Huntington Place Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan. Additionally, the MPMA Fall Technical Meeting (FTM), the premier gear and bearing technical conference in the U.S., gathered the foremost experts from around the world. Professionals from all sectors of the power transmission industry came to the show, including executives, engineers, plant managers, supply chain experts, military personnel and so much more. There were 170 exhibiting companies from more than 12 different countries. The tradeshow was last hosted in Detroit, MI in 2023.

October 29, 2025 – Alexandria, VA – The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) held the annual Fall Technical Meeting (FTM), co-located with the Motion + Power Technology Expo (MPT Expo) last week in Detroit, MI. An awards luncheon was held the first day of the conference to recognize many individuals that have contributed to the technical community through standards development. Awards were presented to over 30 MPMA technical committee members.

October 22, 2025 – The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) presented numerous awards during the 2025 Fall Technical Meeting (FTM) Awards Luncheon today in Detroit, MI. The event took place on the first day of the FTM, which is co-located with the Motion + Power Technology Expo. Awards were presented to MPMA technical committee members who have published a document within the last year.

October 1, 2025 – The Motion + Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA) is pleased to announce that power transmission engineer, Lance Brown, will join the organization as its first Senior Technical Instructor. Brown spent his entire 28-year career with CGI, Inc, recently purchased by The Timken Company. Brown will both instruct industry professionals on a variety of gearing and bearing classes, and also develop intellectual property for the Alliance.
