MPMA Honors Standards Volunteers and Inducts Bob Errichello into Hall of Fame at 2026 Fall Technical Meeting

Awards recognize the AGMA 948 working group for a new electrified-vehicle drivetrain guideline, U.S. delegates to ISO standards committees, and the late gear industry pioneer

Rosemont, IL – October 6, 2026 – MPMA recognized the companies and individuals  behind its technical standards work at the 2026 Fall Technical Meeting (FTM) Awards Presentation, held Monday afternoon. The ceremony honored the working group that developed AGMA 948-A26, the U.S. delegates who represent the country on international gear and bearing standards committees, and the late Bob Errichello, who was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“This awards presentation is an opportunity for MPMA to honor the companies and individuals whose expertise and dedication keep our industry moving forward,” said Jason Daubert, Chairman of the Technical Division Executive Committee, who presented the awards.

AGMA 948-A26 working group recognized for unprecedented pace

The Publication Award went to the AGMA 948 Working Group and the Gear Applications Committee for publishing AGMA 948-A26, Electrified Vehicle Drivetrains. The new information sheet is an industry guideline for hybrid, battery-electric and plug-in hybrid drivetrains (xEVs). It covers ground and marine applications, including passenger cars, commercial trucks, construction, agriculture and mining equipment, and propeller and waterjet drivetrains, with prime movers operating in series and/or parallel power flow.

The group completed the 74-page, technically reviewed document in two years, a pace MPMA described as unprecedented for the organization.

“Completing this document in two years is proof of what this group’s dedication and the support of their companies can accomplish,” Daubert said.

Recipients in attendance were Vice Chairman Walt Weber (Flender), AGMA 948 Project Leader John O’Neil (Star Cutter Company), Jeffrey Daniels (Twin Disc, Incorporated), Jacob Dickie (Ontario Drive & Gear Ltd.), Vanyo Kirov (Caterpillar), Michael McKernin (McKernin Consulting), Jitesh Modi (Schaeffler), Andy Raycraft (JTEKT North America) and Shuo Zhang (Allison Transmission, Inc.).

Also recognized were Gear Applications Committee Chairman Bill Hankes (thyssenkrupp Polysius), working group members Anu Anisetti (Eaton Corporation), Michael Tekletsion Berhan (Ford Motor Company), Matthew Bollman (Charter Steel), Brett Dionne (RENK Group), Calogero Principato (KISSsoft AG), Ernie Reiter (Web Gear Services Ltd.), Brian Rhode (Afton Chemical Corporation), Patrick Ridgley (The Boeing Company), J. Kirk Storey (Alchemetric Engineering, LLC), David Talbot (Ohio State University, Department of Mechanical Engineering), Antoine Tuerich (Gleason Corporation), Dairene Uy (Shell Global Solutions (US) Inc.), Allen Williston (A & J Engineering), Carlos Wink (Eaton Corporation) and Hai Xu (General Motors LLC).

MPMA has published more than 100 AGMA standards and information sheets and more than 40 ABMA standards, each developed by volunteers from member companies.

ISO delegates thanked for representing the U.S.

MPMA also recognized the volunteer experts who represent the U.S. Technical Advisory Group on international standards for gears and bearings. These delegates draft, review and revise ISO standards, work that keeps gear and bearing technology consistent and interoperable across countries and helps reduce trade barriers.

Honorees included Chris Bartus (Dodge Industrial), delegate to ISO TC 4, SC 6, WG 2, Insert bearings; Nikhil Londhe (The Timken Company), delegate to ISO TC 4, SC 8, Load ratings and life; and Hani Almoghrabi (NORD Gear Corporation), delegate to ISO TC 60, SC 1, WG 2, Accuracy of gears, and WG 4, Terminology and notation of gears.

Also recognized were Doug Martin (SKF), TAG Chairperson for ISO TC 4, Rolling element bearings; Scott Warren (The Timken Company), delegate to ISO TC 4, SC 4, WG 7, Characteristics and tolerance values associated with GPS; Keith E. Meyers (retired, SKF), delegate to ISO TC 4, SC 4, WG 8, Vocabulary; and James Voisine (RBC Bearings), delegate to ISO TC 4, SC 7, Spherical plain bearings, and WG 3, Self-lubricating bearings of PTFE fabric liner type.

Bob Errichello inducted into Hall of Fame

The ceremony closed with the posthumous Hall of Fame Award for Bob Errichello, founder of GEARTECH and one of the world’s most respected authorities in gear design, failure analysis, and tribology. Over a career of more than 57 years, Errichello authored more than 80 articles, developed three widely used computer programs for gear design and analysis, and consulted for more than 50 wind turbine manufacturers, operators, and researchers. He taught at San Francisco State University and UC Berkeley and served as technical editor for both Gear Technology and STLE’s Tribology Transactions. His honors include the AGMA Lifetime Achievement Award and the STLE Edmond E. Bisson Award.

Errichello passed away earlier this year at age 84. Before his death, he donated his entire personal library to MPMA so that his research could continue to serve the gear and bearing industries for generations to come. His wife, Jane Errichello, accepted the award on his behalf.
