Recruiting, Retention, and Simple Sales Strategies in Multi-Generational Marketplace
Cam Marston – This presentation reveals what today’s employees actually need to stay engaged—and shows leaders how to turn those insights into everyday actions that strengthen teams and sharpen their competitive edge. Participants learn practical techniques they can take home immediately: designing workplace culture experiences that stick, motivating across generations, and showcasing a workplace that attracts both talent and customers. Along the way, they’ll pick up simple sales tips rooted in generational insight—how to read what each age group cares about, how to tailor messages that land, and how to avoid the turn-offs that quietly kill the sale. Everyone will leave with clear, repeatable steps they can use tomorrow morning to build a workplace people want to join, stay in, and buy from.

Forging Ahead: Adapting to a Shifting Manufacturing Landscape
Laurie Harbour – The North American manufacturing sector has faced significant uncertainty in the last few years, with continued economic, supply chain, and workforce challenges testing even the most established companies. Manufacturers — along with the broader industrial community — have been pushed to adapt rapidly, finding new ways to stay competitive, improve efficiency, and protect margins.
In this session, Laurie will share insights on the U.S. economic, tariff and manufacturing landscape, the manufacturing forecast, industry updates and a call to action for improving your business. She will challenge industry leaders to shift from passive to proactive by focusing on what can be controlled—improving operations, modernizing sales processes, strengthening data collection, and leveraging analytics for smarter, faster decisions. Attendees will walk away with a fresh understanding of where the industry stands and actionable steps to rise above the uncertainty with agility and confidence.

U.S. Economy and Business Outlook: Not exactly Easy Street
Jim Meil – Six years into this volatile decade, we await the arrival of a “normal” year in which business can be conducted in a conventional manner without the intrusion of partisan politics, pandemics, trade disputes and global conflicts. Will 2026 be that long awaited year? Will the Federal Reserve cut their policy rates and reduce borrowing costs for businesses and households? Will inflation be tamed? Will the manufacturing sector embark on a path of vigorous growth after years of tepid, flat-line performance?
We know well that many business executives are left beleaguered and breathless, wondering “What’s next?… I could really use a break!”
Jim Meil will try to shed some light and offer some insights on whether to expect a year with a terrific turnaround or more troubling turbulence, and what it means for MPMA members. He will offer a coherent view of current business conditions and an outlook for 2026 and beyond for the domestic and international economies. His forecasts are based on a combination of facts, statistical models, and informed guesswork. He will go into additional detail for machinery markets, materials costs, interest rates and energy prices and – as always – looks forward to answering the questions of attendees.

Curiosity: The Magic Behind Innovative Thinking
Nash Fung – A magician must innovate and invent new magic or their act becomes obsolete. The same is true in the worlds of gear and bearing technology. From manual cast fabrication to 3D printing, from hand-operated machinery to advanced CNC machining, from traditional bearing designs to smart, sensor-enabled systems, your peers are constantly pushing the boundaries. So how do you continue to innovate and keep your magic alive?
In this keynote, Nash Fung will unveil how magicians stay innovative by harnessing their curiosity to study their audience, explore what ifs, welcome new ideas, and take action to disrupt the status quo. Weaving inspiring stories, interactive exercises, magic performances that meaningfully tie to the key takeaways; Nash will inspire your team to adapt a magician’s approach so they can innovate more impactful ideas together.
