Demystifying AI and Real-World Applications for Field Technicians
AI is everywhere right now. It’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s noise. In this webinar, we’ll break it down in plain English—what AI actually is, what it can realistically do for gear and bearing technicians, and what it can’t do. We’ll tell you now - it’s not taking away any jobs or replacing your expertise. We’ll walk through practical use cases like instant access to specs, automated inspection reports, and sharing tribal knowledge from experienced techs. Speakers Pankaj Prasad Founder and CEO of Airwave Pankaj Prasad is the Founder and CEO of Airwave, hands-free AI built to help every field technician work like an expert. A lifelong gearhead who’s been wrenching on cars and motorcycles for years, he’ll be the first to admit, “I’m a terrible mechanic.” The frustration of digging through manuals, second-guessing fixes, trying to remember what he did three jobs ago is exactly why he built Airwave.Previously, Pankaj held product leadership roles at Zoom and Salesforce., where he led training and mobile products at scale. Today, he focuses on building practical AI that supports technicians in the real world without adding more clunky software for them to fight through. SkiveFinishing® – Introduction of a new hard finishing process for internal gears
The increasing demand for high-precision internal gears in automotive and industrial applications has driven the development of advanced hard finishing processes. This presentation introduces SkiveFinishing®, a novel method designed to achieve superior gear quality and surface finish for hardened internal gears. SkiveFinishing® is defined as hard finishing by gear skiving using a dressable-free CBN skiving cutter, combining the productivity of skiving with the precision of hard finishing. After providing an overview of conventional manufacturing techniques for internal gears, the process principle of SkiveFinishing® will be explained, highlighting its unique advantages in terms of efficiency, flexibility, and achievable quality. Initial machining results on the LK 280 and LK 500 gear skiving machines demonstrate gear quality within ISO 1328 Class 5 and surface roughness values of Ra < 0.4 µm, confirming the process’s capability for high-performance applications. A comparative analysis of SkiveFinishing® against hard skiving and CBN profile grinding will be presented, emphasizing differences in process efficiency and achievable tolerances. The session concludes with a summary and outlook on future developments and potential applications of SkiveFinishing® in gear manufacturing. Speakers Dr.-Ing. Andreas Mehr Head of Technology Development at Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH Dr.-Ing. Andreas Mehr is Head of Technology Development at Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH in Kempten, Germany.
