Preparing for the EU’s New Carbon Border Tax on Steel and Aluminum
In December 2022, the European Union member governments reached a deal to impose the world’s first major carbon border tax. This “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism” will add a tax to EU imports of steel and aluminum products that were not produced to sufficiently stringent carbon emission standards. Under the new mechanism, companies will need to buy certificates to cover emissions generated by the production of goods imported into the European Union based on calculations linked to the EU’s own carbon price. This webinar will examine the new tax mechanism in detail, cover its schedule for implementation, and provide practical guidance on what bearing and gear companies should be doing now to prepare.

AI Steered, Safety Geared: AI’s Voyage with Gear Manufacturing
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the game in gear manufacturing, bringing in intelligent automation, better decision-making, and insightful data analysis. However, it could be smoother sailing as the rise of AI also opens doors to clever cyber-attacks, which can be a risk to the manufacturing process. In this presentation, we’ll dive into the good, the bad and the ugly of AI for the gear manufacturing industry and share practical steps to enjoy the benefits of AI while keeping the bad guys at bay.

AMEC – A New 3D Printing Option For Gears and More
Castings have long lead times. Tooling is a painful expense for small volumes or legacy parts. 3D printing solves these but presents its own problems including high costs, limited materials, difficulty in qualification, and slow deposition rates. AMEC is a new hybrid process that merges 3D printing with lost foam investment casting. This presentation will go over the process, how it solves these issues, as well as proof of concept gears that have been produced.

What Bearing and Gear Manufacturers Need to Know About the Inflation Reduction Act’s Support for the Electric Vehicle Supply Chain
Passed in 2022, the Inflation Reduction Act provides a range of subsidies designed to promote development of the U.S. electric vehicle supply chain. The implementation of the Act has not been without controversy, and many of the key provisions that manufacturers need to be aware of are only now coming into effect. In this program, a group of tax, trade, and policy experts will pull back the curtain on this legislation and explain the key provisions and opportunities that are starting to reshape the competitive landscape for bearing and gear manufacturers.

Gear Boxes in Electric Drivetrains – Requirements and Solutions
The presentation focuses on gears in electric drivetrains for the automotive industry. Gears in the automotive industry is not a new application. But what makes the drive train of an electric driven car special? The presentation will focus on the additional and new requirements in the first part and present Klingelnberg’s solutions in the second part.

Blockchain all grown up – Zero trust design explained
Zero trust design reduces assumptions of trust in computer systems leading to increased confidence for decision making and reducing the need for manual review. This is key to tackling many of the biggest challenges our society faces today like financial fraud, supply chain instability, election integrity, and so much more. This new paradigm will transform the cyber security landscape and even enable completely new business models. This technology is essential wherever data is valued and information security is paramount. By achieving complete confidence in our data, humanity is about to unlock the next era of automation with capabilities only limited by the reaches of our imagination. At Notoros, Inc., their team has developed the technology to make zero trust easy to adopt for any software, past, present, or future.
